April

Since this is usually the month of Easter and always the month of Thomas Jefferson’s birthday, I thought I’d spend a few words today on each.

Jefferson was born on April 13th, 1743. I was born 201 years later on the same date. Since I was born on his birthday, my maternal grandmother would always give me a crisp new two dollar bill for my birthday. I tried to keep them for as long as possible before deciding I needed the money.

Jefferson died on July 4, 1826. His birthday only fell on Easter once, in 1800. I was born in 1944. So far, I have had only one Easter birthday and that was in 1952. There was one in 1941, three years before I was born. The next one is in 2031, and then again 2036. The most frequent date between 1700-2299 is April 16th with 27. April 13th has 17. The least frequent Easter date is March 24th with only 2, which were in 1799 and 1940.

Here is a chart for Easter dates from 1700-2299 if you want to do some comparisons and calculations, courtesy of http://tlarsen2.tripod.com/images2/easterdates.jpg.
