Mysteries

I like mysteries. I read everything I can about them. Here are some of the more famous ones that intrigue me.

Why did the Anasazi disappear from SW America? They populated the Four Corners region of the American Southwest from about 850 A.D. to about 1150 when they disappeared, leaving no trace as to where they went.

What really happened at Custer’s Last Stand? Recent archaeological findings indicate that instead of a fixed battle where the Sioux and its allies circled the embattled 7th Cavalry, it was more like a running battle until the very end.

What happened to the Holy Grail? Did it actually escape the Holy Land early after Christ’s crucifixion and where is it thought to be at this time? Did it even exist?

What happened to the Ark of the Covenant? Is it in Ethiopia where some experts believe, or is it in another location, or does it even still exist?

What evidence do we have that the Shroud of Turin is authentic?

What happened to the treasure of the Knights Templar that supposedly escaped on their fleet of ships in the early 14th Century?

What happened to the Russian Amber Room after the Germans dismantled it from the Hermitage and took it back to Germany during WW2?

What was the mystery involving Rudolf Hess’s flight to England in May 1941? Why was he imprisoned in Spandau alone for so many years? Every time a vote came up among the Four Powers (U.S., England, France, Russia) as to whether Hess should be released, the Russians vetoed it. Once, when the Russians voted yes, the British vetoed it.

Was the Spear of Destiny, a Roman lance thought to have pierced the side of Jesus while he was on the Cross, authentic?

Who was William Shakespeare? Was it Francis Bacon? Was it Edward DeVere? Or was it William Shakespeare?
